Some may not consider this a true artifact, but I do. It's actually industrial waste believe it or not. I found this on my deer lease in Stewart county.(I did not take it from LBL) This pretty blue rock (for lack of a better term) is the bi-product of iron smelting. Known as Slag this stuff is the impurities that were smelted out of the iron ore. So when the stuff was poured off it was just left as waste. As it cooled some if it turned blue-turquoise. I'm going to try to polish it up and see what she looks like. Kinda odd that this "rock" ended up in the middle of a gravel road on my deer lease.

Yep! I knew exactly what that was...the wife's uncle has an old pig iron furnace on his farm and that stuff is all along the creek. My begats bring a sack full home saying they've got a special prize!
