Killed this buck this year that had an antler trying to grow in the middle of his head. Never seen one like it.

Is the skull plate damaged? Or is that just raised because of that bone growing.
Not damaged, just looks like he was trying to grow another antler. His hide and hair were grown around it also.

Heard of that but never seen it in person. Your buck had a third pedicle. This is usually a birth defect. It can be caused by injury early in life as well.

Had this buck a few years ago. Pretty sure its a similar thing. He had it the year before. I never saw him in person out of velvet to see if the velvet shed or if it stayed. Don't know why it wouldn't shed but I've always been curious.

Had this little guy on camera, never saw him in person. Hope he comes back next season, and I at least get a better picture of him, and one from the front side.

Prime example of a cactus rack (testosterone problem). Either his body wasn't producing enough testosterone, or his body couldn't recognize it.
