Oak Ridge - Haw Ridge Park

Looking at last year's map, It says that Haw Ridge Park is "walk-in" only. I saw on one forum where guys said they boated in. If walking in, where do you have to park?

You can take a boat as well. It is the only part of the area a boat is allowed to be used. If you are walking in, park at the trailhead next to the public fishing pier.

You can park as mentioned earlier right off Edgemoor in the paved lot the bicyclers use at Solway, or you can turn down the old road (Old Edgemoor) across from Centennial golf course and park at the back of it past the Life development center. I will warn you however the latter option puts you at high risk for a broken window and theft of anything in your vehicle.

LMAO I wasnt going to mention it but since you did, yeah you might attract a boyfriend if your not careful!! :grin: Dang I would hate to have to shoot some fool and ruin my hunt!
And yes all the rds you see in the area are dirt and some are very rough terrain.

Yikes....do you guys know if many people access that park during the hunt? By boat or by foot?

Been there, done that, at that exact place on Edgemoor Road. I arrived after a week working on the road, so I left my briefcase in the truck. D*** thieves shattered the passenger window and stole it. Man, I hate a thief!!

To be clear, by "done that," I meant only that I was robbed, not anything else...

Yikes....do you guys know if many people access that park during the hunt? By boat or by foot?

Depends, it varies from year to year. It seems there is a large group (10-15) that puts in together and they always enter by boat when they get the hunt. Other years I have hunted it and not seen a single person back there. I will say that the deer rarely spook from someone just hiking through., and scent has little effect on them. They are subjected to alot of people every weekend, and typically ignore them.

Ha...not a great weekend to go for a bike ride...I'd say after hearing a few gunshots he was outta there.

Oh they can read, they just think they are special and the rules do not apply to them. If you see a mtn. Biker or hiker in there, call the checking station and get an officer out there to ticket them. I sincerely believe some do it in an effort to keep you from killing "their" deer.
