Did anyone that has the first hunt go scout Saturday? How did everything look this year?

We got the 2nd and 3rd archery hunts

Scrapes everywhere!! As far as deer in acorns go, there are acorns everywhere so couldn't find one tree the were keyed in on... But buck sign everywhere

Alot of good sign. Acorns are everywhere and we found some trees in different areas that the acorns were being eaten up.

Wish I saw that kind of sign. I scouted off of hwy 95 and saw tons of acorns with very few droppings. I scouted pretty much non-stop from 8 to 3:30 and was pooped when I left. I found a few decent spots that were close to roads so I overlooked those. 10 people will probably come by those spots.

You'd be surprised with those spots...are you gun hunting?

I'm sure I'll walk past a couple ppl on the way to my spot for the 2nd archery hunt. Always see deer where I go but it's a hike in. Easy drag out for that 8 and a doe last year though. Hope to have the same luck this year.

We will be there at the same time, good luck buddy.

Anxious to see how the spot I've hunted in the past looks even though we are hoping to find a new place or two. Tired of being overrun with people in tower shielding.

I've had some success there but it's definitely more of a "what if" place of late.

Like "what if" this guy hadn't came walking thru at 830am or "what if" I had this place to myself. Hahahaha.

It'll be other areas for me going forward

Did you seen to have better luck when it was location specific on the draws?

Honestly I'm not sure. It's been hit or miss. It seems that when they have the first hunt on Juvi weekend there's people everywhere because they can't hunt at home.

The second hunt is usually the least crowded because people are out of town hunting or don't want to put down the gun at home to archery hunt.

I actually like the way it is now but I truly believe success numbers would go up if they drew fewer hunters.

I hunt tower sheilding, I killed a 6pt off it last year, I find scrapes on same ridge every year

I don't have an issue finding tons of sign in there every year it's just finding cover close to sign that doesn't have people right on top of you. It's a challenge but I love going and will continue to do so
