I went a little more over than I intended to but it's only money [emoji23]
First stop was my usual to visit with David & Ashley Halloran and My ole buddy Cornbread.
I lucked into one of David's old stock Laminate Slate calls a few weeks ago and it is a good un. Had him autograph it and he said it was old but still screams.
I got the MM2 with a Macassar Ebony striker and played his green slate for future ordering.
After we visited a bit I mentioned a call he just built for a friend recently and how cool it was and one of a kind. Then he told me to come behind the counter and he wanted me to look at something.
Him and Cornbread handed me a box and said take your pick of these only 5 made and no one has one yet.
To my surprise they were Red Slates in a Flamed Box Elder pot. Man it's a dandy to. The wood came from Harold Fowler which he's built a few calls from the last couple years as I know a few who got Crystal Mistress in them.
I ain't turning loose of it. Got 3 more strikers with it and the DVD.
Picked up a new vest Ol Tom I-Beam 2.0.
Got a Lil Huzzy from Mr.Tony Reynolds.
Caught up with Matt McLain and stayed awhile and had a good visit and ran over his table of calls. I love how he uses different species. I could have took everyone home with me. I ended up with the curly Maple slate and an English Walnut micro tube. I got his Bubinga and an Osage striker. I left a sassafras pot that will haunt me.
Got a replacement Hoot N Stick from James Harrison since I broke mine.
Got a Hat and Call Lanyard from Steve Brown. His box calls are top of the line.
Didn't get any Mouth calls because Jonathon had sold out and headed home. Gotta get some ordered for myself and brother.
Didn't really do any cruising of the aisles pretty crowded and I had hit the booths I intended to. Left out before 1.
