Weather doesn't look good for my area on Sat. Rain is at 90% and winds are showing 20-30 mph. I'll still be out there but dang it sucks.
 
Saturday is a good day to walk the ridges checking out the sheltered side. Deer won't hear you or see you if you move slow with the wind.
 
Where I hunt at it's not looking quite that bad. 12mph with gusts up to 20. Rain not until later in the afternoon.

I'm going to be there at sunrise. I figure if something moves, it might be at daybreak before the front fully moves in.

Anyway, bad day hunting is always better than a good day at work.

This is my plan. Wind and rain will make it easy to literally step on one before he knows you are there. Also, super windy days can sometimes increase deer movement and/or concentrate deer in sheltered places.
 
Tonight

Mostly clear, with a low around 34. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight.


Friday

Mostly sunny, with a high near 65. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the morning.


Friday Night

A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.


Saturday

A chance of showers, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. High near 71. South wind around 20 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Yea it's showing 20/30 mph winds where I'm at as well. As if the rain wasn't bad enough.
 
I'm planning to hunt Sat morning before it's supposed to get bad here. And may slip out Sunday before church for a bit, but definitely plan on Sunday evening.
 
My dad and brother or coming in to hunt Saturday To Wednesday morning , I got all the shooting houses in order so rain want stop us, as long as we don't get any severe weather.best of luck guys

When you say sheltered places, are u talking about like deep valleys or creek bottoms with steep ridges on each side to shelter the wind and rain a little?
 
Yeah sleeping in Saturday dreaming about killing a giant Sunday. Will be the first time I've slept pass 5 am in a few months I'm looking forward to it lol
 
Shelter is any place the deer can go to get out of the wind. South side of a ridge with North wind, pine thicket etc. Sometimes they just freak out and move around due to anxiety from losing their defenses.

I wish I had stayed in my blind 30 mins longer. Hunted til 930, got back to truck, unloaded and cased gun, was changing out of my boots and looked back at my blind as an absolute TOAD of a buck sauntered by 300 yards from me, but 120 from my blind. Never seen this one on camera, so I'm sure he was just passing through and probably never see him again. Didn't have time to put orange back on, uncase gun, and load before he was outta the field.
