It has been a weird year. Acorns seemed about two weeks behind, massive daylight buck movement from about October 23 till November 2. However, on my property, it was pretty much status quo. The only difference is every year. I have some 3 1/2 to 4 1/2+ yr old bucks show up in November. that did not happen this year. Except for one Deer, who is the wackiest looking six point I've ever seen in my life and he won't score very much but he's basically the biggest deer on my property. I think he's 3 1/2+. I decided with that being in the case, I'd try and hunt him and the issue is he has no interest in does, no interest in fighting, and he's always by himself and of course usually moves at night. On Black Friday in the morning that changed. He came out at 7:15 and I missed him at 195 yards. I lifted my head up off the scope to som, and shot right over his back. It didn't really affect him though. He actually came back in the next morning at 9:45 but my dumb butt got down out of the tree stand at 9:40 because I had to pee and I was ready to go home. I didn't realize he had come back in until after I left. He's been back a few times since and it's always at night. So this morning I went hunting and at 7 o'clock I had five does come in and feed off. And then about 730. I happen to see a deer moving in the woods to the left of my shooting lane coming through the thicker cedar and when I saw it, it looked like him from the side so when he stepped out into the shooting lane I already had my gun up and when he got into the shooting lane and stopped to lick the trophy rock I shot him. He took off running and I gave him about 10-15 minutes and then I got down. I got to the site where he was standing and saw good bright red blood lung particles in the blood and started tracking him. He only made it about 40 yards before he fell over, but when I got there, I realized it wasn't him. It was another buck that I got on camera trailing a dough Friday and he had disappeared into the ticket with her Friday afternoon. I assumed that he'd be in there for a while, but apparently he got done doing what he was doing and decided to come look for another. Being I had never seen the deer until Friday and he was gone as quick as he arrived, I really wasn't even thinking about this buck. Wasn't exactly what I was expecting but at this point, I'm just happy to have gotten a deer. Seven point Rutherford County, rut it up and stinking.
