Ok guys so here's the situation. I am hunting at Stewart State Forest. This public land is 97% hard woods and 3% pines. I took my first two deer in the first 10 days of rifle season and saw (spooked) about 10 more. I took both deer about an hour after sun light. I'm assuming they were returning to bed. Now I have seen nothing the last five days I have gone out. I have tried in the pines, around them, In valleys. Every one I know is saying look for white oak trees and their acorns but this whole forest is loaded with acorns and I don't see the deer going out of their way to find some. Do you have any suggestions on what to do? I tend to hunt from sun up to sun down. Thanks fellas.
Not sure what to do at this point.

May be that there are no deer to find. I live in Stewart county and my area could not stand and pressure. Stewart county should have never been put in unit L. My area has as many bucks as does and we have pretty much cut back to only shooting one buck. We have had very few does killed.

^^ What he said! Little story: I found a beautiful oak hammock surrounded by cypress heads and swamp one time on a WMA in Fl. Kicker was it was only about 200 yards behind the main checking station on one side and about 100 yards of the highway on the other. I killed the biggest buck I had ever killed with a bow there. Ended up being my little honey hole and over the years I took about 4 bucks out of that small spot. Nobody else ever thought of it, they would just turn in off the hard road, pass the check in station and head deeper in the woods. The deer density on this place was pretty slim, like 1 deer for every 55 acres or so if I remember right. Sometimes deer hide right under your nose where you lease expect them. Maybe they are just transitioning into their late season pattern and not doing what they were doing a month ago.
Spend a few hours scouting, it is still possible to find some current "hot" sign whether it be late scrapes for the young does or just an area where they are traveling or eating and leaving a lot of fresh sign. Look in thickets near feeding areas and also green fields where the wheat or whatever is eaten to the ground...........and get on it.
