But I did receive my freeze dryer a few days ago. I love that thang. I have been keeping it busy 24/7 since I got it. Favorite so far - apple. Pain in the butt so far - oranges.

Freeze dryer update. Bottom line is I still love it. I have had some issues however. Epoxy plug where wiring penetrates vacuum chamber developed a short, control board went bad, and vacuum pump went south as well. The Harvest Right folks have been great to work with and replacement parts sent right out, all under warranty.
I've got it loaded up with stuff out of the garden now.

Few questions, if you don't mind:

Are you making it into a powder, labeling and storing away?
Is there any nutrient loss?
Also, how long does the freeze-dried stuff last before going bad?

I have a buddy doing this. He's freeze drying beef. He ate some after a few months and said you couldn't tell the difference
