after too much money to talk about and about a year of testing in the 338 Lapua,in real world conditions out to 1,200 yards the 300 Accubond shoots better for us in the Sako TRG 42 with 5.5-22 Nightforce optics than either the 250 or 300 Lapua Scenar ,the 300 SMK and both versions of the 300 Berger,,
the BC of the Accubond is something less than .750 and we are only pushing it about 2700 fps,but there is no denying in this rifle at least that it shoots tighter groups and tracks better than either of the Long Range Match bullets,,
and when it hits the steel it makes a definite sound,,not that high pitch twang,,more of a solid kawhoomp,,
with a confirmed range and calm conditions I would feel confidant taking an 800 yard shot on game with the Sako rifle,,around 650 with my Savage,it just wont hardly shoot the groups the Sako will..
we had a ball yesterday,,shooting steel at 650,900 and 1025,,at first when Daddy bought the TRG I thought he got ripped on price,but now I see it is that much better of a rifle,,
I ended the day at 900 on the Sako putting three of the Accubonds dead center close enough that the bullet splatter was overlapping,,I would guess less than 6 inches,,
I wound up shooting 50 rounds of 250SMK with 88 grs H1000 and we put 50 300 Lapua Scenars with 90 Grs retumbo and 50 300 gr Accubonds with 88 grs Retumbo through the Sako,
I will say it is too expensive to do very often but watchin the trace these big bores leave through the atmosphere ,looking like the shot is gonna go 100 feet high then about 50 yards in front of the target it just kinda falls straight down out of the sky and 3-4 seconds latter you hear the whabang,,it gives me some kind of rush almost like a weird drug,,
