Nontypical made it….

Had this deer show up in mid november. I tagged out a few days later. He has really gotten consistent. Several daylight pics of him.named him Baker (Bakers dozen) - he has 13 pts. First nontypical on this farm. Cant wait to see what he develops into. First bouble mainbeam buck with actually 2 droptines and a double mainbeam. Hope he keeps this unique traits

He was a clean 8 last with a bladed g2. I passed him at 5 yards with a bow. I had him a 3.5 last yr and 4.5 this year. The pics are from last week and the first pic posted was from this morning at 5:30. Time wjll tell. He must have damaged a pedicle at some point.

Antlers are weird. I've only ever been able to monitor a few double beam bucks and two of them were completely normal the following year. The third one I was lucky to follow his entire life and currently he's what I'm pretty sure is 7.5yrs old.

He was a very normal 2.5yr old 8pt and half way through the season he got one of those big softball size lumps on his neck like a tumor. The next year at 3.5 the lump had shrunk down a bit but his left side was a double main beam. At 4.5 it almost normal again except the brow was separated from the beam. At 5.5 it turned into a split g2. At 6.5 a 2" flier off the back of the g2. And now this year at 7.5 it's a nubby thumb looking sticker on the beam like a tiny tine between g2 and g3. The malformation creeps further away from skull and gets less severe every year.

very interesting. ive researched it quite a bit and the 2 causes are usually injury to an extremity - in which case it can correct itself or damage to horn base in which usually stays and intensifies. i will post the video of him from late december 2024 when he trailed a doe right under me. he was similar antler characteristics but did not have an extra main beam. im assuming he hurt the base during the shedding process on that right side
