I posted this question on the general forum will ask again here anyone ever use non-toxic for doves???,,,Hiwaisse refuge requires it and I was just wondering what kind of shot and how much it cost,,,only non-toxic I can seem to find is for ducks and that way to expensive for doves.

hook every box i have ever seen has been high dollar,i cant afford to dove hunt where non toxic only,1 day thats all that will be allowed :( copper would have been better than steel but its out the roof now,mike243

I've found some 2 3/4 steel 6's, and have seen steel 7's. After having shot ducks for several years now with steel shot and knowing how many shots I usually fire at doves, I'm not overly optimistic with steel.

Ive used the Winchester 2 3/4" 6 steel, and it worked ok. about like 8 lead, on late season birds. Used it in a goose field that a TWRA guy also had permission to hunt. Didnt want to be caught with lead for doves while hunting geese, too. Inside 35yds its pretty effective, but you'll have some cripples outside 35.
