Sick to my stomach. Walking in this afternoon 3 does ran 15 yards in front of me. Not even 10 seconds later a big buck walking smelling for the does. I had all my gear and stand on my back. No primer in. I dropped the gear I had in one hand and he paid no attention to me. He started walking in the direction of the does. I was looking for a primer and once I had a primer in, I look up and he was gone.

Didn't see a thing after climbing the tree.

I am a little depressed at the moment.

At what point do you load primer?

I keep a couple loose in my pocket to get to easy. I spotted a buck once and broke nervous and actually pulled my primer off and threw it like a jackass for some reason and had to rummage my bag for another one while the buck was looking at me the whole time. I found another primer fast and dropped him. Now I keep a couple extra ones in my pocket.

Best place to put primers are in the screw holes in the recoil pad of your gun.

I don't load a primer till I'm on stand but I can quickly get one from my recoil pad.

I hunted all afternoon yesterday, and while walking out I remembered that I never put a primer in my gun. I didn't need one, but I would have been somekinda mad if a big deer had given me a quick shot opportunity and I dropped the hammer on an empty hole. It is always my intention to put a primer in as soon as I get out of the truck.

As soon as I leave the truck walking toward my stand. I will take it out when I pull it up into the tree, and when I lower it back down, but it goes back in for walking in and out. ;)

I keep one on the nipple. It's really the best place for when this happens
