I got my yearly kick in the nuts from UT with their big game draw.
I should have been a lock for pronghorn. Don't know what happened.

Points creep is getting worse and worse.
I think part of my problem this year was when UT allowed magnified optics during MZ season. I bet a lot of rifle hunters switched over (along with their points) to take advantage of earlier seasons.

Here are my NR draw odds for early Henry's Bison:
I have 11 points (of which 6 were hard earned Resident points)
There are 2 permits a year
There were 1,769 applicants in 2014, of which 128 have the same or more points than me.
With only 1 permit going to the top point holder, barring a lottery win, I should have this knocked out in 128 years!

(Henry Late and AI only offer 1 permit each, so that equals - Never)

Have u ever hunted the general deer units in UT? I have 2 points in the general so I need to do something soon. I dont care about a "trophy" Utah deer, I just want a backpack hunt.

I used to do the General hunt with MZ when I lived there. We went mainly north of Weber County in the Wasatch Cache and also into Ashley. Last time there was south of Moab.
People were too crazy with rifles.

I struck out across the board, but I expected to. I'm up to 5 points on most. I drew a general deer tag in 2014 and had to eat it because of a situation at my former employer. Lost my points and over $200 for the permit. I was so pissed.

I was trying to keep it simple logistically, so I drew one of the areas relatively close to Salt Lake City. I think it was one of the Wasatch Mtn units.

I went into this years drawing (otherwise known as lottery), with 11 points for LE Deer and Bison. 6 points for everything else.
