I wouldn't be too happy if I bought a brand new scope and then it failed. I'd be even more disappointed if after the optic failed I called Customer Service and had a brand new scope of the same model was sent to me. It may take longer and more of a pain in the rear But I would rather the manufacturer asked me to send the problem scope in for a look-over for possible repair and if repair isn't possible then a full replacement. For me it would build my confidence if I had to send it back as that would tell me that the maker believed they sent the best optic out the first time(and would want to figure out what went wrong) For some maker just to send me out a new scope without looking over the old one...classifieds here it comes ;)
I assume you misread the first time, I did send them the scope for repair. I tracked it as it was there as Nikon allows on their site they classified it major repair while in shop. The day they shipped I had just assumed it was repaired but was presently surprised to recieve a brand new scope for a scope that came with a gun I purchased and I had no previous knowledge of how it was treated. Anywho I still think that is FANTASTIC of a modern company to stand by their products!!!!! JMO steve
