Nikon Omega scope

Will be shooting this scope on a TC Omega.
Nikon says the scope is designed for the ballsitic circles using 100 grains of powder,and a 250 grain bullet.

Anyone using this combo?
Anyone using a different amount of powder?

Also is any brand of powder superior to the others?
I only have 2 weeks of ML hunting to d,and want the best powder and bullet I can buy to work the way the scope is designed.

I have shot one using the reccomended loads.
Am trying to get information to shoot more powder,but don't want to experiment and blow it up.
Also used Pyrodex,but wondering if there are better powders available.

My advise would be to find what bullet, and volume weight of powder your TC likes first, then shoot it with that recipe and make notes at where you bullets are hitting on the built in scope bullet drop reticle points in your scope.
For Deer hunting I'm using 50 cal Opt with 290 gr. Knight Ultimate Slams (Barnes pol tip boat tails) being pushed with 90 gr of loose Pyrodex with good results. On my scope the Nikon Pro Staff BDC (made for modern powder) is 0 @ 75 yds, first lower circle @ 130, 2nd circle @ 150, 3rd @ 205, etc.
With that information I made a small drawing of the BDC with yardages and taped it to my stock.
I'm going to the range to try out the new Hornady FPB's 350 grains with Pyrodex and maybe some 777 (cleaner and 20% hotter if loose)at different volume's, and then If I like, I will make a new cheat sheet :)

If you are shooting a 250gr modern bullet I would try 85gr 777 loose and see if that does not put it where they advertise... :wink:

If still not getting good results try going down 5gr to 80gr or up 5gr to 90gr

Some where in these three loads you should find the bullseye... :wink:

Each rifle or ML is different. My setup is 105 gr of loose 3f T7, 250 gr Shockwave. My encore has a 26" barrel where I have had 2" cut off.

Just curious...why would you cut 2" off your Encore?

check that...I believe they say it is calibrated for 150gr and a 250gr Shockwave(SST)

I am shooting 2 777 magnum pellets and a 250gr SST in a Knight KRB with a 27" barrel. I am sighted in 1" high at 100 and in my rifle that makes the 200 yard circle dead on and the 250 about an inch low.

The QLA was off center and my shot placement was not good. Once I had it removed, shot placement is great. Best group at 100 if I remember is .856 or .845. I used to have a picture of it.

I agree with Skynimrod. I shoot the TC Omega as well and would figure the gun out then mentally figure out what the scope is doing.

I have the Pro-Hunter with the same scope, but have not got it dialed in as of yet. The instructions shows 150 grain of power with a 250 grain bullet. I'm going to try to use only 100 Grain of power (Triple 7)

Was considering the powder and bullet Jim Shocky uses.I think he shoots TC guns.

I dropped from 150gr to 100gr Pyrodex last year and my groups tightened considerably. I have heard that with 150gr part of the powder doesn't burn anyway, I know I'm getting much less fouling since the change also.

I don't hear much good about that powder. word is that it's clean burning, but pretty inconsistent from a velocity standpoint. your mileage may vary.

I meant to say that sarcastically. Sure the money has something to do with it.
It is possible it is great stuff also.
Just trying to find out.
