Nikon monarch

I found a nikon monarch 2.5x10x42 with bdc for 339 . Are the monarch worth it ? Or should look for something else. Thanks for the info.

If it is new the price is ok, but not a huge savings. As far as the scope itself.................it is a very good quality scope for that money. If all you have to spend on a scope is that amount, you will not go wrong.

I have been looking at the same scope and new from bps they are $389. I found one for $319 on amazon.com. great scopes Imo.

I have one and I love it. The BDC reticle gets in my way. I wish they had a green dot.

Just my opinion. I also have the BDC on a couple of my scopes, I don't think it's needed if you are only shooting out to 300yrs. Sight in at 200 and you should only be 7.5-8inches low at 300.

MOST experienced/accomplished extreme long-range shooters I know seem to prefer turret adjustments over the BDC. One of the best long-range shooters I know (who is also an accomplished deer hunter) perfers his long-range deer rifles sighted in at 300 yards, using a standard duplex type reticle. He's says with the 300-yd sight-in, it's a "chip-shot" (for him) out to 400 yards, and he wouldn't take a shot much past 300 anyway. But then we're talking about a guy who spends several hours monthly shooting at 300 yards.

Part of why a 300-yd sight-in could be more appealing is simply because it gives you less to think about, just knowing that holding about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom of a deer's chest, you have nothing farther to think about regarding yardage out to 300 yards. Especially if you don't plan to take a shot over 300 yards anyway.

burris fullfield II in 4.5-14x42 is a good one that has the ticks. I can easily shoot to 600 yds with mine on a 300wsm.

i look at burris, seem like a good quality scope, the most I probably shoot 400 tops in a 3006. i want to get a timney or jewell trigger and take the pull down to a lb or 1.5 lb

If you get the Burris, get the 42AO over the 40. It is well worth it. I've got both and regret the 40 after having the 42.

Priced that same scope today for 389.....that is a good deal and th e Monarch is a really good scope.

I have one, it's every bit as good as my Leopoldo vx3! I got mine for 289.00 online

I have the same one and i have 369 in it.....339 is a good solid deal. Buy it!
