Night Vision

I was thinking about a night vision camera set up for shooting rats around barns with an air gun like they use in the UK. I know rats are not game animals but would that set up be legal? A scope mounted camera that used IR to illuminate the shots while the camera looks through the scope.

I think it would be legal for killing rats as they are not a game animal. It would be illegal to kill any game animals like coons or possums with it.

I would not leave the area of the barn with it or there would be questions.
