decided to walk out behind the house today to watch the day start and see if any squirrels wanted to volunteer for stew.
I don't know if I can describe the peaceful satisfaction I had for a brief morning hunt.
Don't get me wrong, I love to deer hunt but it has been too much pressure this season so far with everything else going on.
A .22, some cb's, warm clothes, and a cushion to sit on.
Lightly foggy and quiet. Just a skiff of frost here and there.
The smells of fall when it FINALLY gets cold out. Fog of breath in cold air as the sun peaks through the trees. No pressure, no stress, little to no work. If I shoot some squirrels there is no long drag, no long drive home followed by a frantic rush to get them in the cooler. 60 seconds or less to dress out a squirrel if you get one.
It was a beautiful day in the woods this morning. I only wish it could have lasted a little longer before the world woke up, cars started running the roads, and the sounds of every day intruded.
