MINE is move it back to invitation only. Make it top 5 Ranked teams. If you wanna whine about it make it 6.

How are you gonna make it 5? Give the top seed a bye? I personally don't care but when teams are getting in with 3 losses it's a joke. That's pretty much a quarter of their games played. I'm not knocking bama with that either. That's any team in with that many loses and no one realistically thinks they are gonna win if they have lost that many anyway. No matter what number you cut it off at you will always have the next team or two crying saying they should have gotten in too and finding reasons or excuses they should have and why it wasn't fair they weren't

I was big against expanding the playoff to 12 but I have enjoyed the last 2 seasons. Reducing it to 6 or 8 would be fine also. I definitely don't think it should be expanded more but that's coming.
I would leave it at 12 and do away with automatic qualifiers for conference champions.
It needs to have set qualifications for the rankings and not whatever the committee wants to do.

I do like having more teams overall though. I like the opportunity "lesser" schools have at playing the big boys in tournaments. In college basketball the gap between a 16 seed and a 1 seed isn't what it used to be. Used be it was a 40-50 point win, where now you've had a couple 16 seeds win and many close games. It's not about determining who is the best team, but who can win the tournament, and tournaments are great fun for fans.

Yes, having objective rules for qualification would make it easier. I would leave it up to the conferences to determine who goes, and I believe Josh Pate had some good ideas along this line.

Not sure how you "fix" the playoff system. Some team is always going to whine. The 3 loss Alabama team should have not gotten in. Im not a Alabama hater or fan. I just think other teams were more deserving.

I agree. Instead it's going to be 16. That's ridiculous.

That board is mixing select stats with "feelings and inclusiveness" debate. That will never work. Just listen to some of the pre and post board interviews and criteria for selection and the we felt, we tried being inclusive. And mixing top tier programs with watered down cannon fodder.

Only reason they moved it up to 12 is they wanted a bunch of cry babies that never had a chance to make the playoffs have a shot at the playoffs and its good for TV revenues. Now they are going to expand it to 16 all in the sake of more cry babies and more TV revenues. Imagine some more terrible teams getting in. If you think this year is a joke and a side show? Just wait. Participation trophies for everyone.

I think the setup now is about perfect besides the 5 conference deal. If it was just the top 12 ranked teams I think you have some crying they got left out but realistically everyone agrees if you're ranked 13 or below you're not winning it all anyways. If you win your games you'll be top 12z

It seems totally flawed IMHO. You look at these brackets. All the top 4 teams TT Georgia, OSU and Indiana get the benefit of 1st round bye's. So they get to ride the pine for a additional week or two while all the teams ahead of them have to slay it out like gladiators and run the risk of injuries. Then they have to go and rest and recoup. Then these top 4 teams get the benefit of watching film on these teams in preparation. You look at the second set of brackets going into quarterfinals they might as well change the name of them to the Gauntlet.

If they wanted a 4 team playoff why not have a 4 team playoff and call it a day? I know. TV Revenue and shutting up the crybabies.

Do away with conference champion automatic bids and decide those champions on regular season records. Heck do away with conference championship games. Too much money involved so that won't happen. Choose the top 6, 8, or 12 teams and have a playoff. People will still complain about the ranking process and #13 will plead their case of why they should've been #12 so in the end no matter what's done there will be teams and fans upset they didn't make it.

One could say there are 136 teams in the tourney and it begins in week one. Take care of business starting week one and get to the last dance if you play well
