New year- same plan. What not to do : Step one- get a few good bucks on camera. Step two- get pumped up for bow season. Step three- over hunt and over pressure spot early in season. Step four- hunt "ghost deer" rest of season. Maybe next year I will learn but it's so easy to fall into old habits

That's the truth I've bee good this hunted my best spot first two weekends of bow season and haven't been in there since. I know where I'll be come muzzleloader!

Because I hunt the same property all season, now you know one the reasons I gave up bow hunting. Now, when I first climb into a stand, I want 1) it to be the best time of year for older buck movement during daylight; and 2) to have a longer range, sure-killing weapon in my hands.

Our success rate on older to mature bucks sky-rocketed once we stopped bow hunting the property. The first time we climb into a stand is either Juvi or MZ opener.

Just hunt more than one place! I could never give up bow hunting just because I felt like it hurt my chances with a gun! I just hunt different areas and try to never pressure any areas too much, especially if I think they have the potential to produce a good one. Bow hunting is so much fun I cant even imagine just not doing it. I also have learned so much and became such a better hunter because of bow hunting!
All that said, if I could only hunt 1 place I would be very careful with my early season bow hunting!
