Well after last weeks snow I decided that I needed a plow to clean mine and my parents driveways off with. We still have some remnants of snow today. We live near the very top of the north side of the ridge and it hangs around at least a week longer here than anywhere else. My parents driveway is very steep near the top. It has major picker factor because when you start off, there is no turning back. Right where the steepness starts to end, there is a curve with a waist high bank and if you break loose and go over that bank, you would probably blow right through the house and just keep going. My drive way isn't so bad but with the lingering snow, the wife can't get her car to the house, instead she has to park at the road. Me nor my dad has any trouble navigating the snow but even when the roads are clear, the driveways are not and the women can't get to the house. So I figure I'll help it along next time.
These plow "systems" are usually sold as a unit which consists of 4 pieces. They have the vehicle mounts, the pushtube, the blade and then the winch. The whole system is pretty outrageous but thankfully I already had the winch. I also have a 2" reciever on the front of my machine. I made my own mount to be used with the hitch for quick and complete removal when not needed. I used a spare hitch, some 2" thick wall tube and some 1/4" angle. I added a pulley so that my winch cable wouldn't come out at such a steep angle. The pulley wasn't added until today. I had the mount made and the whole thing set up on the machine and decided to add the pulley because of the cable angle. It also made it operate a little smoother. Anyway, here it is. It probably won't snow another time this year. 8-) I got to play in the garage and got a new toy anyway. :tu:
