Got me a JD 7000 4 row wide with no-till coulters. I'm pretty pumped and looking forward to getting some seed in the ground next year. My problem is that I don't know jack about how to operate this or any other type planter. Right now it's setup for corn but how do I set it up for beans or sunflowers? Can I plant peas, watermelon or any other plant? Is there any good reading online?

Nice! If you need plates, Lincoln Ag has them and they will be cheaper than JD dealer.

i think its plate-less??? The hoppers unlock and tilt forward but there's no plate at the bottom. There appears to be a gear of some sorts that you unbolt. I think it has meters with finger pick up??? Unfortunately I can't pick it and trailer it home til September.

I have one just like it and plant sunflowers and corn with it. I believe that there are different cups (not plates) for other seed like soybeans and grain sorghum. It does have several adjustments for seeding rates and depth so it would pay you get a manual for it. Great planter! It just seems like you can cover so much ground so fast.
