My hunting buddy was scouting today and found a place eat up with huge rubs and sign. He wants us to put a stand in there so my son can hunt it on the juvi hunt. Problem is we can't get the stand up til Friday around noon. I'm concerned about hunting it Saturday so soon after all that human activity in the area. What say you?

2 years ago I moved a ladder stand to a new spot at 10:00 am. I went and ate lunch and back in the stand at 12:30, shot a mature 8 point at 70 yards at 1:15. I think the closer to hunting time the better if you only had Friday or Saturday to choose between.

What kind of stand? If you can put it up easily and quietly wait until Sat. Elsewise I wouldn't hesitate putting it up the day before. Just use scent caution.

I think id just take a blind in that morning and hunt out of it instead of putting the stand up.

Blind is not an option. Going to have to be off the ground to see effectively.

I would find the trail and hunt it deeper... Never had much luck hunting the rubs, it just shows they were there like finding turds on a trail only cooler and gets me pumped for the season... but turds on a trail is just as promising. I just think you might be better off getting in further on their trails versus seeing up on a run of rubs. IMO

We have to put up a double stand. Per youth hunt rules I have to be sitting next to him.

My buddy was adamant about us hunting there Saturday so I know it's a good spot. We are gonna do it. Just getting opinions.
