I've been working at my present company for 10 years. Every 5 years from your hiring date, I am given access to a website that offers service awards based on how many years I've been there.
This time around, two of the choices include a Leupold VX-1 scope, or a Ruger American Rimfire rifle (.22 rifle with synthetic stock and tapped for scope mounts). There are other odds and ends to choose from, but most other things I don't need or want (golf clubs, appliances, cheap grill, etc).
Currently, I do not have a rifle that needs a new scope, and I already have a .22 rifle (Ruger 10/22). I don't know the market value of these two items off-hand, but assume them to be reasonably close in value.
I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on either of these two items, good or bad.
Also, I had the idea of working with the gun shop that would receive shipment of the item to see if they would accept the new rifle as a trade towards a target or carry pistol for my wife. I don't see why this couldn't be done, but would be interested in comments. Furthermore, if someone has a small-ish caliber pistol that they are looking to get rid of, maybe we could work out a deal!
thanks for the input.
