A guy that lives near me gave me a new rod to take for a test run. It's a custom made rod with what he calls "The Hook Set Handle" on it. I haven't taken it for a test drive yet but hopefully this afternoon I can. The curved part goes under your forearm and gives you a lot of balance and leverage from what I have seen so far. Looks like it will be great for fishing anything you fish with a straight back presentation.... along with holding a fish on a run. He makes these for both left and right handed fishermen for spinning and baitcasting models. I'll try to get you some after thoughts about it after I get it out on the water. Looks like it will be great for spoons, silver buddy, or texas rig fishing for me... with flipping probably being greatly improved. Looks like it will take a lot of wear and tear off your wrist.

It looks kinda funny but it feels great so far.

Hey Fox! Good to hear from you. Looks different, but you never know. Let me know how it fishes. Maybe it can make it easier on our worn out backs!
 
Yeah the last trip we made to the Duck River, we caught Rockfish til we got tired. It was around midnight when the bite slowed. All topwater under a full moon! Many times their would be 2 or 3 running our baits at the same time! It was wild! Most averaged 15lbs with the 2 best at 22lbs. and 24lbs. Sometime after midnight, we started chasin' smallies. They didn't cooperate very well though. Clear water and super bright moon makes em hunker down a lot of times. We had a few bites and caught a couple little ones, but had the water stained a bit, I think it would have been better.
 
I really like it. That smallmouth was putting up a fight today. I was able to hold it in one hand and try to get the fish with the other. Of course, you know how that worked out. I just hate taking a net along. It takes up so much room.

I fished with it all day and I have to say, I like it a lot. I thought it was gonna be weird but I think I'll have to find the money to buy this one.
