I am really liking this gun for deer hunting they come in 7mm08. Now if I can get the wife talked into letting me get one [emoji3]

They're based off of the DPMS Gen 2 platform which is a completely new system.

Where did you find the catalog? I haven't even seen it yet.
 
I like the AR style rifles... I would not trade my traditional style bolt action for one...
Yes I figure they would be a blast to shoot...some are extremely accurate...
But I love a nice wood stock with a slick action...

Agree. Can't imagine any shooter who reloads wanting one of these???? Why would you want to scatter brass all over the woods?

These will be made in Huntsville, AL starting next year.
I have been looking at the DPMS G2, but this one is also a possibility.
A cheap brass catcher from Midsouth will catch your brass.

People use semi-auto shotguns, rifles, and pistols all the time. This is not a new concept.

I handload and I want one lol. I can't speak for the rest of you but every time I've ever made a quick follow-up shot with a bolt action, where that first piece of brass landed wasn't my main focus.

I say the same for them too. Why would you want to scatter your brass all over the ground if you reload? :)

All semi-auto's are undesirable to me for that reason. Some of the older semi's are nice to look at though while the AR's are about as attractive as a torque wrench. They are a tool for shooting enemy soldiers, defending yourself or just messing around blasting stuff. They are tools built for a purpose. For the life of me though, I can't see what other shooters are seeing when they say an AR looks good. :D

Most of the time I'm thinking of recovering brass even when shooting a deer. Guess I'm just a born scrounger. When I got my 1st side x side shotgun I insisted on an extractor only gun rather than an ejector for that same reason.

I think that statement usually comes with the untold caveat of "looks good 'for an AR'." :D

OK, once you put that condition on it, I can agree. :D And to clear the air that I do have something other than traditional wood stocked rifles in my collection, I have 3 AK's and a totally "black gun" (*Gasp*) - a Calico 9mm collapsible stocked 9mm carbine. One of my main reasons for disliking semi-autos is that they scatter brass everywhere. Being that I am a reloader, why would I want to bother with the extra work to pick up brass, knowing a certain % will be lost? Anyhow, these two particular rifles I have chosen have work-arounds for dealing with the brass issue. I have a brass catcher for the Calico that hangs under the gun and is hardly even noticeable. For the AK's, 7.62x39 can be bought so cheap, I just let the brass fly. (Do you still call it brass when it's made of steel?? :lol: )

I have a DPMS in. 308, I promise, that'll make you throw rocks at the 5.56.
165gr handloads, it's sweet.
To me the '06 would be too much, imo the long action is much less efficient in the AR platform.
