I was looking in the new fishing regs and saw that the Little River from the Rockford Dam upstream to the Smoky Mountain line have a 13-17" protected slot. 5 bass can be kept with only 1 smallmouth over 17". I have been fishing that river for 16 years, and loved seeing the new regs. My 2 biggest river smallies have come out of that river, but an 18"+ fish was very rare in those waters...maybe this will change that a bit. Now only time will tell if TWRA actually puts guys on the river to enforce the new rules.

Man, I hope you're right. I was up ther for a conference last spring and accidentally caught it when they were spawning. The buffalo carp were going nutz everywhere flopping around. Anyway, I had some excellent luck with the smallies, and I had never fished it before. What a blast that stream is.

I hope so. I haven't seen any quality smallies in the river myself. In the whole stretch of the river I've never caught one bigger than my hand.....
