We moved on to our new property this past weekend. Deer everywhere!! 7 does and a 7 pt. standing behind the shop at dusk, bumped 7-8 while walking up in the pasture...and so on. Is it too late to hand some ladder stands or will I blow'em out? I'm treading lightly on the "virgin" pasture so I don't spook'em. I've glassed a few good shooters but haven't really scouted any stand locations yet. I know where I'd set up if it were still June/July but I'm thinking it's kinda stupid to get in there now and push the deer to adjacent properties.

Y'all's thoughts?
 
If you could get a couple ladder stands put up today or tomorrow you would be fine.

As long as you don't create a big loud disturbance when putting them up, you could hunt same day. I have killed multiple deer from ladders or sets hung in mid-day, in the same afternoon.
 
If you can shoot a rifle safely from the ground, I'd use your shop or whatever structures already there and hunt it from the ground. Do the stand work/prep after season goes out.
 
Set up the stands or use a climber or whatever and just hunt. I f you stop and think about people hunt draw quota hunts all the time and kill nice deer. They usually scout and then hang a stand the day before or the morning of. I believe sometimes as hunters we way over think things( I am guilty myself). The way deer are moving , cruising, chasing right now, I don't know that anything you did with a stand would matter . Good luck!
 
I agree with others. I mean what could it really hurt? You can set up and hunt, spook them and not kill a deer. Or don't set up, don't hunt, and still not kill a deer.
 
Congratulations on your new property! I agree with the recommendations to set up and hunt. You will push out some deer. How far and how long depends on you. I am helping another land owner in a similar situation. We walked part of his 80 acre farm last week and choose to avoid bedding areas and others with good sign. My preference is use good scent control getting to and placing the stands below sign to keep the evening downhill thermals in my face if possible.
 
You're not gonna blow em out. Hang the stands and don't overhunt them. They will avoid the stands or the pasture during daylight if you hunt them too hard.

I hung a lock on in my backyard recently and had a buck work the scrape next to it the next morning.

SJ, hang Em and hunt, they will be wild running for there life or for love this whole month or so and won't pay a new stand any attention. If you'll wear some hi-karate or brute by faberge in a new area it'll make them curious and they will actually come looking for you. Trust me.
