New to the board. I've read for a few years and have enjoyed your stories. I hunt in Mississippi and West Tenn (Chester county) and I finally had an interesting deer hunting story to share. I shot this big boy last year but never found him. No blood at all. Now he was facing me when I shot so it wasn't broad side. So the bullet would have to travel the length of him but I shoot a 30-06 so I would have expected a little blood. Anyway, found him last Friday and while I hate that he died without recovery, I'm enjoying the story and rack. My biggest ever. He was about fifty yards from the shot location. I think he ran down a hill and then circled me and hid in a area of tree falls that is pretty thick. Since I didn't see any blood along the trail for a few hundred yards I figured a miss. The lesson I've learned is to not give up on the tracking.

Welcome aboard. You'll realize that cbhunter is a Vols fan and is happy with a participation game (bowl game) every chance he gets. Which doesn't come to often anymore.
 
Thanks and I am an Ole Miss fan but I also have a degree from LSU. So I'm not your normal Ole Miss fan. If there is one. I'll check out the sports board when Ole Miss gets a new football coach. Maybe soon.

Welcome...I just joined recently myself...glad you found the skull....being your biggest buck....not sure what your plans are but you could clean the skull and whiten it with peroxide....or you could get another cape and have the buck mounted..... congrats.
