after holding the 8 shot priced at $418
don't think I want the 642 any more

Have been pretty set on getting an M&P compact this summer for a while. It will be my first pistol and I am gonna use it as an all around gun, and also carry it at times. A 21st birthday present to myself.

Gonna have to do some new research on this bad boy before I make the final decision. Thanks for introducing it to me.
 
I like the xd's as well. Have a couple buddies with the XDM and XDMc. Both really great guns.

Got turned onto the M&P's because of their ambidextrous options (I am cross eye dominant) and have loved them ever since. I have settled on shooting right handed and just adjusting a little to accommodate my left eye so I won't be needing the lefty options, but I still like these guns best.
 
I�ll be getting an M&P Shield as soon as they release the 40�s. Yet another home run for Smith & Wesson. I just bought a Kahr MK40 for a �Micro� gun, but it looks like the Shield may be close to that application.

I have the full size 40, Compact 40, M&P 15, and M&P 15-22. They are great guns.

I bought a Shield last Monday. I am a 40 cal Glock guy but this one got my attention so I had to have it. I'll more than likely trade it when the .40 comes out but for now this is going to be my deep concealment gun.

It is a very sweet shooter. So far it has eaten everything I have fed it. I even limp wristed it several rounds to see what would happen. Unlike the KelTecs and the LCP's the Shield was immuned to malfunction even when fired with a loose grip. Recoil was much softer than my 642. Smooth is the word for the little auto.
