New hunters need lease

I am a father of 2 young men that love to hunt. In the past 2 years they have 3 friends that have become interested in hunting. (all in their 20's). They all have their hunters safety cards. The problem is they have no where to hunt.

We use to make arrangements with landowners and work for the privilege to hunt. Now days you can't find a place to hunt or you have to rob a bank to be able to afford a lease. I know there are drawn hunts and WMA areas but these young men need land to learn how to hunt and that takes time.

Any suggestions. We live in Hamilton so looking for somewhere in driving distance.

There are some affordable leases out there. If they're in their 20's they should be able to come up with $400-$500.

I know Rocky River Hunt Club is usually taking member applications, and there's another on Smith Mtn (Cagle above Dunlap) that used to be like $400-$425. He usually posts on Craigslist.

I will say this though - a lot of more affordable leases are loaded with people, and it gets competitive. That doesn't mean the hunting is always bad, it just means you need to prepare them for that.

Unfortunately for those of us without land, we have to pay out the wazoo for a great hunting experience.
