New Hunter

I'm new to the forums and new to deer hunting. This will be my 2nd year hunting so I'm curious am I wasting my time trying to hunt in Monroe County tn

Depends on where in Monroe county. I'm up by Vonore and I could have killed a buck in my yard earlier this week. I can hardly drive to the store without seeing deer. I've got 50 acres on the mountain and have a dozen or so deer on my property but they're the most skittish animals I've ever encountered and basically year round nocturnal. They don't even blow. You can search posts on here about cherokee national forest and find info posted by knowledgeable folks. It's hard hunting but some folks are consistently killing deer in the mountains. Others are killing on TVA land around the lake. I'm considering shifting my focus there until I can do some work on my place to make it more huntable.

Scout and look for sign, place your stand according to prevailing wind in the area, be still, and hunt.

There's deer in those mountains for sure. Hit some of them gated service roads up the skyway. Scout till you find sign and hunt it. It may take some time but you'll find the deer or possibly a hog. I'd take either!

There are pockets in Monroe Co. that have a great deer density.
