Depends on where in Monroe county. I'm up by Vonore and I could have killed a buck in my yard earlier this week. I can hardly drive to the store without seeing deer. I've got 50 acres on the mountain and have a dozen or so deer on my property but they're the most skittish animals I've ever encountered and basically year round nocturnal. They don't even blow. You can search posts on here about cherokee national forest and find info posted by knowledgeable folks. It's hard hunting but some folks are consistently killing deer in the mountains. Others are killing on TVA land around the lake. I'm considering shifting my focus there until I can do some work on my place to make it more huntable.

You won't know until you dive in and give it your best shot. 👍🏻 Good luck!

Scout and look for sign, place your stand according to prevailing wind in the area, be still, and hunt. ;)
