I got a Taurus Judge. I wanted to hunt with it but it shoots high and the sights are not adjustable. So I was wondering if there was any gun smiths on here that know how I could put a scope on it, or if it is even possible. I would appriciate all info you guys could give me on this. It is the model with the 5 or 6 inch barrel I can't remember.

Thanks
Tripp

Just to save you some time, the Judge is not designed for handgun hunting and .45LC would be on the bottom of my list for effective handgun hunting cartridges. Lock the gun in a handgun rest @ 25yds and see how it actually shoots. It may be you shooting high. Good to check before you spend a bunch of money on a scope and getting your gun drilled and tapped for scope mounts.

I agree with the low pressure 45 colt loads that have to be fired out of the Judge, but out of a Ruger Blackhawk or similar strength handgun the heavy 45 LC loads have it all over a 44 mag, and approach 454 Casull numbers.

True, it can be loaded hot. I would not wanna shoot it out of a revolver like the Judge though.

Well it is about 6 in high at 25 yards and it was in a rest when I shot it. I agree with you guys I do not like the 45 LC how ever I do like how it shoots a .410 slug. Got the gun and don't want it sitting around so I am gonna hunt with it, using the slug. So what do you guys think I was told that the gun does not have enough metal on it to drill and tap for a scope have you guys seen any type of optics that will go on it??? If I can't hunt with it I will be trading it off... 45 lc is not a cheap round and I can't afford to just buy a box and go plinking. So lets hear the ideas you guys got I am thankful for the info you guys have already giving me...

If I were looking for a hunting handgun, I would look elsewhere, like a Ruger BlackHawk or Redhawk in 41, 44, or 45LC.

They do make a rail that clamps on the front that I guess you could put a laser on. I'm sure you could drill and tap that thing. It has enough metal.

Well guys you talked me into it I am gonna trade it off any of you guys want first dibs? The gun has had a box of 45 lc and a box of .410 slugs runt through it thats it.
