In response to the new gun law that went into effect on July 1 and how it affects TWRA regulations:
1. Public Chapter 870 allows possession of firearms in private vehicles by all persons that can legally possess a firearm.
2. TCA 70-4-117 prohibits weapons on WMAs, etc. except during lawful open seasons. Our WMA rule prohibits the transport of loaded weapons on a WMA.
3. Persons with a valid HGC permit may possess a handgun the entire year on a WMA, etc., but they are not authorized to hunt with it unless authorized by proclamation (open season for the handgun).
This is the extent to which I will be commenting on the new law, so please don't post new questions concerning it.
