Call them junk if you want, but I have 2 of the Ambush Blackflash and they have taken thousands of pics each with absolutely no problems. Very easy to set up and the pictures are very good.

There's always exceptions...consider yourself fortunate.
 
we've got three of their older cameras all that money on the cameras and the crazy part is they are all done none work my uncle runs them and they have stopped working and he has wild game cameras and they are still going strong and I hate those cameras. I will never and would never recommend cuddebacks to anyone.
 
They are junk. I have a pile of them in the garage that I give to people who need "decoy" cameras to catch people stealing their good cameras. I guess they are good for something...

My money is now spent on Reconyx. I know it's a lot more, but dang it, it's worth it. There is nothing more frustrating than to drive to the farm and find out your camera hasn't taken a single pic. If you are going to go the Chinese route, buy Covert.
 
I have two of them. Not that old but one just stopped working. I put the other on a salt lick last spring . After two months I had a total of 12 pictures - and it was a digital camera not film. My Recoynx typically yield 4,000 to 5,000 pictures in a similar set up.

I probably would not use a new Cudde if they gave it to me.

THIS is what many new users need to carefully think about.

When you buy a cam, what you're really "buying" is to "find out what is happening over a period of weeks". It is this you are buying, not a cam to hold in your hand, and marvel at it's catchy case, special camo, or faddish brotherhood who also buy the same brand. You're buying the "finding out what's happening".

And when the cam doesn't work, you continue to waste your time, and money (including the gas to go check your cam), but worse, you still don't know what happened.
