A cold bore shot is the ONLY shot that matters on a hunting rifle, hence the reason mine are all cold bore zeroed. And I only saw one shot that completely missed and then a gut shot. The rest of them killed the crap out of that deer. Also, I think his MOA dot was a little small, iot should have been 5 inches at that distance, it looked to be about 3 to me.
Like I said earlier, Id give that a go.
Every shot yo to the last 2 would have had someone saying, "yep. That exactly where I planned to hit it."

I have one area on the farm I hunt where you could get right at a 900 yard shot. It would take a lot of practice to make that shot, not even considering wind. My normal stands give me options out to around 450 or so. I am comfortable with those shots, but I have chronographed my loads and verified drops at distance. I zero at 200 for those fields so that I don't have to think too hard if I get a case of buck fever.

Under great conditions and with the right rifle/scope I would go 400-450 on an animal but I don't think I'd stretch it any further. I shoot 600-800 quite a bit as I can get that far behind my house but steel and critters are a different game.

Right there with ya, i have no problem with 4-500 yard shots as long as everything is perfect but how often are things perfect when hunting 😂 wish we had a local area to go 1000 plus for practice

I'm picky on my normal 20-40yd shots so at 400 the clouds would have to part, wind go to 0, animal standing there in a coma, etc, lol

1000 is fun. I've been to Big Ivy a few times before it closed it went to 1001yds and Dead Zero twice.

Big Ivy was cool because they had an MOA at 1k challenge. They had a 10" steel disc hanging at 1001yds and if you hit it 3 consecutive shots witnessed by one of their range masters you got a moa at 1k sticker. Kinda silly but kinda cool.

The Doppler targets at Dead Zero are nifty as well.
