I had an itch to build another AR and ended up finding a Sig Sauer M400 Elite upper from Osage County guns for under $300

Thanks to Infoman Jr for the suggestion on the Toolctaft BCG, it is really a great part for the price. I put it in an Aero Precision stripped lower with a Spikes Tactical battle trigger and JP spring kit. Add on a Daniel Defense butt stock, Radian Raptor charging handle and a Sig Sauer Romeo 4H site and I am pretty happy with this build.

For you AR fans, this Aero Precision lower has a simple feature I had not seen before. It has a threaded bolt catch pin so there is no more marring the lower trying to tap that pin in.

That must be a newer feature on the aero precision as my older ones dont have it. I have found that if I use spiral coiled pins instead of the rolled pins they slide in way easier. There is a guy on ebay who sells them in stainless for pretty cheap ( $9 for 3 complete AR sets )

The CMT lowers made here in TN have this threaded bolt pin feature. Their billet ambi lower can't be beat

I like the Strike Industries catch. They make neat stuff, I have several of their components in my build. Their plastic dust covers are the bomb, can be installed and removed without messing with the barrel nut

How do you like the Sig Romeo red dot?

It's really good. One of my buddies who is a SWaT commander turned me on to it. They could only order the Romeo 4 or Aimpoints for their rifles because of the testing they had gone through. I haven't shot much with it yet but really like a couple of the reticle you can toggle through.

Minus red dot,how much does it cost to do a build such as yours?

It's not quite as much fun when you have to add it all up :) It was about $855 all in. But then again, I wasn't setting out to build the cheapest one I could. I could have spent ALOT less on some of these parts but this is what I wanted.
Upper was $289
BCG was $80
Charging Handle was $89
Stripped Lower was $99
Spikes Tactical Battle Trigger and JP spring kit was $65
Buttstock was $70
Tube assembly/buffer spring and buffer was $90 all in
Bolt catch/pivot and take down pins came in a set for $40
Ambidextrous Safety selector was $32

Not bad at all considering the quality of parts you used :super: I am specing out a AR-10 build :D

that's a really good price actually. I built one last year and went label-fluffy kittens and top end on everything. Set me back $2k+

let me show my ignorance of ar's...question: can i buy a complete upper of any brand and a complete lower of any brand and make a complete rifle?obviously same caliber...

For an AR 15, yes. An AR-10 not so much.

I really tried to research and find the best value on parts. The upper at $289 was a steal.

I am building a varmint rifle right now on an ar platform that will be in .223 Wylde. I expect the trigger to cost me much more than the last one.

Do you like the Spikes trigger and JP spring kit ? Is it that much better than a polished Mil Spec set?

It is pulling very consistently between 5lbs and 5 lbs 3 oz.

Pretty good for the cost of it. I have an ALG enhanced trigger that is good as well but not as consistent.

I can't compare to a polished mil-spec as I have never used one.
