I was scouting my new lease this afternoon, setting up some trail cams and found a nice match set. I didn't realize how nice till I put the tape to them tonight and measured out 171 11/16. Not exact cause a brow and G3 were chewed up pretty good but the score is pretty close. Never expected to walk up on this. The last thing I needed was something to get me even more fired up for season. It might be a long 5 weeks. I'll post a pic if I can ever figure out how

just the sheds score 171 ? that would put him close to the 190 mark if you add a 20"spread.if thats a tenn. deer you will be the talk of the town if you kill that one GOOD LUCK !!send some picts

either way if anybody finds a set of sheds that score 155,that is a good buck to chase around. GOOD LUCK!!!!

World class indeed. That is a great pickup for any hunter in any state and one that has to light a fire inside the fortunate hunter who may have a chance at him this year. Did you know anything about this deer or was it a total surprise to come across? I assume your new lease is in TN, correct? I see Nashville as your location, but that is not always indicative of where one hunts, thus the reason I asked.

This was a complete suprise. I picked up this lease because it was close to the house and I wanted to make it easier to sneak in more weekday hunts this year. I'm still trying to learn my way around the place and figure out the best way to hunt the steep timber. Its feels mountainous compared to where I hunt in W. TN. I picked a couple of places off the map that looked good to set some cameras out and happened to stumble across several sheds including this one. Pretty fired up to try and chase him around this year.

B&C scoring is done on an 8ths tape. Very nice set of antlers but not going to be at the 170 mark net or gross. Mass seems to be a little thin and main beams don't appear to be long enough to help with the total scoring. That being said, it's still a very nice set of antlers and I'm sure it is bigger this year. Best of luck on getting a stud of a deer.

Did you break off the right brow? It looks longer in the first picture.

Will you provide us with your measurements?

Here is what you should only measure---my guess out to the right
browtines-about 12" total
main beams-48" total
mass (4 measurements on each antler)-35-37 at most
his G2, G3 & G4s-45" total
and your 16" spread guess is about right

that's about 158 gross. I'm sure Im off a bit but I doubt Im overlooking 13"

what did you guess his g3s and 4s at mastercheif? think those 3s will go 10

Here's the measurement...in 8ths to make everyone happy (16ths is an old framers habit)

Beams: 24 2/8, 25
G1: 6, 6
G2: 14 4/8, 13 7/8
G3: 9 2/8, 9 4/8
G4: 5 5/8, 5 5/8 (estimated, chewed up)
C1: 5 4/8, 5 2/8
C2: 4 2/8, 4 2/8
C3: 4 2/8, 4 2/8 (estimated, chewed up)
C4: 4, 4
S: estimated 16-18?
Total: 171 3/8 - 173 3/8

Hopefully later this fall I will let someone more official take this years measurements.
