I have a ruger mini 30 with sevral upgrades. Roughly $1000 invested, a guy has offered a ar build he values at $1200.is it a fair even trade ? I don't know anything about ar rifles. This is the list of parts he sent me: MI 15" free float modular rail 175
Nibx M16 BCG 185
CMC 3.5lbs flat trigger 180
18.5 fluted barrel 300
Seekins Precision Bolt catch, mag release, and trigger guard. 50
Fortis Hammer charging handle. 70
mbus sights 95
forward grip 30
Lower 250

The barrel is the most important part IMO and he just said "fluted"? No brand, twist, chamber, etc? FYI you can get a really cool looking spiral fluted cheapo stainless barrel for $99. It's easy to call it $300 because it looks nice. Same with the lower, but less important IMO. An Anderson lower is $49 and can be completed for under $100 without the trigger group.

It may or may not be worth it depending on the specifics of the components

Agree about importance of barrel. I love an 18" or 20" with 8 twist and Wylde chamber. That trigger listed is not bad, and much better than most mil-spec factory triggers.

This is what he mentioned on barrel: It's a 223 wylde fluted barrel. Got it from primary arms don't remember brand off the the top of my head.

I'd rather keep the Mini 30. That ar was built the way he wanted it, not you. You can build a pretty nice ar for 600-800 and it will be the way you want it. I would almost bet you that 223 Wylde fluted barrel is the same one that Classic Arms sells for around $100. I've built 2 ar's with those barrels and they are good looking and functional, but certainly not anything special.
