Need some advice!

Shot a nice buck this evening at 30 yds and he ducked a little and I hit him high looked like . He almost fell as taking off and ran straight over the hill wide open. I gave him probably 20 min. and went looking. Couldn't find the arrow but I'm sure it passed through bc I heard it hit in the background. Found blood on the hill he ran over and the tracking starts. He ran halfway down a steep hillsides and went around it maybe 200 yds before dropping over to a creekbed and going about 50 yds up the opposite side and turning and coming back down circling back to the creekbed. I left from there bc I got puzzled and it's thicker than a jungle. Blood is bright red and spotted here and there and on bushes and leaves about waist high. Any help on what you think on it. Will he live? I'm going back in the morning to start searching again.

I think if he died you will find him somewhere on that creek bed where he laid down. I don't think his odds are real high on living with a wound, coyotes and the heat getting back up this afternoon. Good luck

Check under laid over trees, branches etc along the creek bed. Couldn't tell you how many times that's where mine have laid up. Good luck

If you stopped looking where he turned back down toward the creek, my bet is that he's there in the creek close by. Go back and get him.

Did you stop looking and still have blood ? Or just to give him time ? Sounds like a deadly hit. I'd been back last night looking !

Went back to where we last found blood last night. He went up hill to a big tree top and stopped , there's a good amount of blood there and found just a little blood right below it like he went back down and that's it. Searched around trying to see where he might've showed evidence of going but it's been logged 2 yr ago and the hillside he was last at is thick.

I'd say your on top of him if he is dead. He laid up in the thick stuff I bet.

Thanks for y'alls help. I've looked everywhere for the deer I shot. Even watched for buzzards today in the area and just walked to maybe see buzzards or hear flies . It's been hot today so I know they would have been swarming. I'm hoping he lives since I can't recover him.
