There was a big buck with a doe penned up in a small woodlot near my stand yesterday afternoon. I could clearly hear him grunting and roaring in there and I could hear and even occasionally see him chasing her around to keep her in there. I tried some doe bleats and grunts to get him to come within bow range, but I couldn't get him to come over far enough. I know I did not scare him off because he was grunting in there until dark when I quietly exited the area. My question is how long will he be in there with her? I'm about to head out for an afternoon hunt. Is it worth it to go back to the area or is he probably done with her and most likely moved on? The wind is perfect to get back in my stand. There are several active scrapes on the edge where the woodlot meets the field.
