need opinions on browning A bolt

2004 A bolt II medallion 7mm..never fired..new in box..i know these are higher end guns..but are they accurate guns..i really like the tikka t3..but i can get the a bolt cheaper..really..never owned a browning..hoping someone here has shot both guns..thanks

Never owned or shot one but never heard a bad word about an A-bolt. I'd take it any day over the Tikka.

You can't go wrong with a Browning A-Bolt. I've had several and all were good shooters. The only thing I would do is change out the trigger spring with a Timney trigger spring to lighten up the trigger pull to approx. 3 lbs.

trigger springs are no problem..for $500 i think i am gonna buy it..wanted ss/syn..but hey..this seems like a steal..

I know the feelin. I'd love to find a LH A-bolt and I've run across one or two but they've not been my preferred caliber.

I guess I could cough up the cash and go but the one I want but I'd rather find a bargain.

im a lefty too...and this one is left handed..kinda why its hard to pass up..never had a left handed gun..been shootin r.h guns l.h for 35 years..unure if i will be able to get used to it..

when shopping for the boy's deer rifle we compared the Abolt side by side to the savage. the savage was better built. the bolt was smoother and the wood to metal fit was better. the savage came home with us. i've never been a browning fan other than the BAR.

Love my A-bolt 243 wssm, its a shooter. I wouldnt hesitate !

That's a good price and you will be satisfied. I have a-bolts and x-bolts and love them both. They have all shot very well. My a-bolt is 270 wsm and it's pretty much the only gun I hunt with anymore.

just curious as to why you choose them over the 7mm..wish it was a 270 wsm..but the 7mm ballistics are flatter..with less wind drift..than either the .270 or the 30-06..the latter being the worst..is it the recoil..recoil can be tamed..to some extent..

just got the gun..its sweeet..probly the best feeling gun i've ever shouldered..too dang pretty to deer hunt with..if it shoots as good as it looks i think i got a keeper..even if it is a 7mm mag..svl recoil pad will be the first thing i put on it..hoping to make a beanfield gun out of it..now the search for the optics begins.

There is a nice one over on ALDeer.com. Browning A-Bolt Left handed chambered in .300 WSM for $425. I bet a man could buy it for $400 with the rings and bases.

If it has the Decealator Pad on it the SVL won't be needed.Most all new A-bolt do have this pad if it ain't concreat hard it is this pad and there as good or better to me than the SVL IMO

Would rather ding it hunting than in the safe anyday so it Would go to the field.

My 300 WinMag A-Bolt Medallion has an adjustable trigger and is a tack driver!

I like the A Bolt guns pretty well. Factory triggers, even the adjustable ones suck but as has been said it is a reasonably easy fix.I have had 5 of them in different calibers. All were shooters with the right ammo. Way better guns than any T3 Tikka. The only issue I ever had with the A Bolt is that the safety locked the bolt down. I don't like a gun that has to be made ready to fire to open the bolt. I think Browning remedied this with the X Bolt.

I have both,you cant go wrong with either. If I had to chose,I would always go with the Tikka,but they feel way better to me.My wife loves her A-Bolt most. Personal choice. One thing Ya gotta wonder why you rarly see a Tikka or an A-Bolt on the used gun rack.

i love the feel of the browning..but i feel the same about the tikka..i almost think the tikka has a smoother bolt than the browning..i guess i will have to buy a tikka to see which i like best..

i've got both the tikka is a 338 federal and it kicks worse than my 338 win mag
the win mag is lot heavier gun and and the recoil on it is like a shove and the tikka is like a kick

I have the 338 Fed in the hunter model,put a sims recoil pad on it,tames the beast. Heck of a great round.

Okay, I'm a Browning guy. Take that stock off, you should see that it is at least bedded and ay be pillar bedded to boot. Here is what I am doing with my A-Bolt II in 06, plastic stock, ugly.

Got it at Stockys. Needed about 30 seconds with the dremel for the tang. That rifle listed out at around 800 bucks, you did very well.

Browning A-bolts are great rifles and the wood on my Medallion in 22-250 is just super. Had to replace the plastic on my -06, just don't like that look anymore.

Fins, the more I think about it,the better that deal looks, I wish I could run into that kind of luck. Congrats again.

thanks dave..it is a beautiful rifle..it was a deal i couldnt pass up..was looking for a 270 short mag..but being new..and left handed..i had to buy it..even though it was a 7 mag..i'll find a 270 short mag sooner ar latter..
