I bought a used bow in 2013 I think, it's a PSE rogue 28" 50-70# for $175. I had never shot a bow and fired it a few times before I bought it, I liked it and was able to hit the target(maybe begginers luck). I am a pretty bad shot with it honestly, on average I get 4" groups at ~35 yards, 30% of the time, tight groups 1" 20%, 2" 20% THEN some crazy groups the last 30%(sometimes even off the target!). To me this isn't acceptable to hunt with. I am not even happy with 4" groups really. I don't know if I use the right form or is the bow is off. I've never shot one before this one and since I bouht from an individual I don't have the support of a trained proffesional to ensure I'm doing it right.
I don't need smaller than three inch groups but more than three and i'm afraid would equal non-lethal shots. If I can't be confident that I will make kill shots I wouldn't want to hunt. With my rifle I would snarl at larger than 2" groups.
I have bad astigmitism wich makes my vision kinda fuzzy at all distances and I sometimes struggle to see my sight because of the shape of my glasses. I have shot probalby 50 arrows with an old wore out set and old wore out strings. I went to sportman's choice in Halls Knoxville and bought new arrows and string $250! I though that maybe the new strings/arrows would help but my accuracy seems that it is actually worse. Iadjusted my sight and it's getting better but still isn't accurate and consistent. I use a one pin sight and I'm sure that doesn't help.
The problem/question. I have almost $450 in a USED bow that I can't effectively kill with ( I only bought it to hunt with). I could but a better sight 100-150 bucks. I have thought about buying an x-bow to get around my vision and glasses. I could go to a dealer and by a new bow built for me.
I am open to all suggestions please help.
