have acess to 2oo acres but no tractor its about 75% woods and the rest overgrown fields what can I do to attract and keep deer around? plenty of mast crop every year lots of blackberry in the summer and a couple of perrsimmon trees- surrounded by golf course industrial park and a neighborhood see lots of deer but hard to get a fix on them

Yep, I almost posted why even worry about food plots? Sometimes food plots take away from the time that could be spent scouting.

To me food plots are for when all the "work" is done.

How do I foster cover? what about salt licks ? dont have 4 wheeler

also a pond year round water

and a TVA power line its all grown up now pic 2 yrs old

Keep the cover and the deer will be there. You will have plenty of natural food. Pattern the deer on the property and save your money. TVA will keep the powerline in good shape. From the looks of your pictures, you will have good cover for many years to come before you need to do anything. If you want you can put out a trophy rock or two, but in reality, the deer are going to be coming to this small parcel for the cover.

If it gets back like that pic,you get get some one to disc up a few places for food plots,for a couple hundred bucks,let the rest grow up.That should work.There is always someone around with a tractor that needs a few bucks.

Sounds like you should be letting the deer use the habitat that is there. That "mess" of cover should be left alone.

As far as trying to BAIT them in with food plots... you could have more success by hunting travel routes in and out of cover.

I assume the golf course has premium grass and food for them to eat already. Certainly there is no hunting allowed on the golf course. Let them feed on the greens and fairways and come back to your property afterwards.

bait them with food plots?I would say if they are eating grass,they need some "baiting",deer only eat grass as a last resort
