Well I'm heading to Texas on a deer hunt in a couple of weeks and wanted to get your opinion on a good bullet. I will be taking my browning 300. It has the boss on it. If anyone has that gun please share your favorite bullet and what grain. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I hunt with a 270 around here. I haven't deer hunted with the 300 much and wanted to see what everyone else used.

My Browning A-Bolt 300 with BOSS killed cow elk, a nice 5x5 bull, and 6 muleys.

180 gr Partition on top of a max load of IMR7828. It Chrony'ed right at 2915 to 2940.

Nothing it hit went further than 25 yards. It was zero'd 2 inches high at 200.

Wear ear plugs in the field if you have the older BOSS.

Pretty much. With a 300 win mag, any bullet you're using will be fine on a Texas whitetail. A 300 win mag is gonna deliver so much energy regardless of bullet selection that cheapo Corelocks or Winchester soft points would work just fine.

I'm a Barnes guy myself. I'm pretty confident when I go out knowing I'm throwing a solid copper round.

Another vote for Barnes
