I am going to be going out of state for the first time ever in the next week or two. It will be to bow hunt a private 300 acre tract of mostly hardwoods in Jefferson county Ohio, the town of Irondale. Been lurking n some of the Ohio hunting forums and seems like for that area it's about to be on! I was planning on going up on Monday the 5th and staying at least 7 days, but after checking the forecast of Sandy seems like things will calm down on thur the 1st. Was thinking about going on up then, thinking that the bucks might be running wild after being holed up for a few days because of the storm.(hoping that is the case). Are you familiar with the peak chasing time for that area, or do you have any advice to give me, I am really on the fence about when to go to be honest, I would hate to wait till Monday the 5th and hear that the big boys are wide open this weekend, then on the other hand would hate to go up to early! On a side note, the fella who invited me said last year on the same farm it was unreal on the 10th-12th and looking back the "rutting moon" was on Nov. 10 th last year if I understand right, and it is Oct 30th this year if that has any relevance. Any advice you can throw at me would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

good luck, i dont have any info to offer u other than if u hunt beans or corn get just inside the treeline

Heck,just go, I've went up on two or three years when it was supposed to be "peak" time and it wasn't. I would pay more attention to the weather myself. If you have good cool or cold weather the bucks will be on thier feet and moving. Good luck!
1-Forget all that moon crap.
2-If you have a buddy up there, ask him when the most activity was last year.
3-Check the weather for that time.
4-If it is going to be cold, go.
5-Spend at least the firsthalf-day scouting and finding two or three good stand sites. Remember, agricultural crops are afternoon stands and just inside the woodline is where you want to be with a bow. For mornings, look for acorns and fresh travel trails.

In that area, generally the 5th to the 8th is peak time. But anytime from Nov. 1st onward is good.
