Need a part?

I was cleaning my rifle this afternoon and somehow or another I managed to break the spring on my magazine follower assembly (does not have detachable or hinged mag). Anyways I have looked all over the internet for the part with no luck. It is a Savage model 116 in 270 cal. Any Suggestions?

Call Savage, they will probably work with you. E-gun parts is an option also.

I will try savage but my rifle was made prior to the new management taking over and the don't sell parts on there website for it.

I've had good luck finding "hard to find" parts at http://www.brownells.com . You can search for savage 116 magazine and see what they have.

Did it have a coiled spring or the flat zig/zag spring?

And can you get more specific on the 116 model?

The place I am looking has several different flavors of 116 models....

It had the flat zig/zag spring. There is no more specifics on my rifle. It is a plain 116 no letters after it. It was made prior to 1995.

Search by gun maker and then go through the models... I found a coil spring setup, but didn't get through the others to find a zig/zag set-up.

I have found that place to carry some hard to find parts and have had good service from them.

Thanks for the info guys. I wound e-maling Brownells.com and they had it but it was listed under a different model. According to them it would fit my rifle also. I ordered it (shipping was almost as much as the part). We will see!

They are good folks and generally knowledgeable about the parts they sell. They usually have reasonable flat rate shipping for small parts. Hope it works out for you.
