I used to hunt a few hundred acres with a couple guys. By December, there wasn't much point going because you were almost guaranteed not to see anything. Deciding which box or ladder stand to sit in was the most thought we put into the hunt. I can see where I could get burned out on that after a while. Now I belong to a large club with thousands of acres and there are many challenges to deal with including hunting around other hunters, scouting new areas, running cameras and even getting around the land to access the areas not to mention finding mature bucks. I raised two sons who both hunt but they are preoccupied with their education and family so there isn't much time to hunt with ole Dad. Even though I have taken some good bucks a couple even in the books, I don't feel like I have come close to accomplishing what I want to on mature bucks. For me, its keeping it fun and challenging and sharing it with others.
