Natural deer food ?

I know this is mainly a food plot section of TN Deer, but I have
a question that some might know. How nutritious are locust beans?
Where I have hunted in the past, there are alot of locust trees
and the deer lap up the bean pods as soon as they begin to fall.

I have never patterned deer off them, but always considered them a bonus if in the area.

You've rained on my parade! :(
I've been cutting down all those locust trees to make room for more "preferred" species!

But maybe just making more sunlight hit the ground will still be of more value than those dad-blamed locust trees? :)

Good old pokeweed Football Hunter. Deer wear that out in my area. If you can find unbrowsed pokeweed in August in the hill country, you don't have any deer!

Im trying,its getting everywhere on my place,grass killer is so expensive,hate to use gly and kill everything

I had it in my clover plot this summer. Sprayed it with Over The Top. Supposedly this stuff won't kill the clover....wrong. Whole clover plot is dead. Stiltgrass is dead in the plot, but it's already about 2-3" tall again surrounding it where I used the weedeater. Going to have to reseed the clover this weekend and spread the turnip seed, but hopefully where I used the weedeater it won't have time to grow enough to germinate again this year. I still can't believe deer won't eat that stuff. My whole deal feels like it is going bad this year. Feeder area is bare from the squirrels and coons, not many pics this summer.....God forbid I have to actually hunt this fall...lol.
